Developer choosing to be responsive towards new market is a good thing, but it isn’t sustainable if old game can’t retain veteran players. What happen when there’s new product coming out? Would FRPG got abandoned as well? I’ve seen FS has developed few games in the past, some discontinued as well, so this has to be said.
In the BCG matrix, TC can be considered to fall in the cashcow/dog group (depends on how many subscribers are still going on here), while FRPG is definitely a star (high need of development and high income generation.)
A general consensus is for companies to maintain as many cashcow as it can, discard the dogs, develop the question mark, and maintain few stars.
Another perception can be applied from lifecycle graph, where TC is in maturity phase and FRPG is in its growth phase.
Companies usually try to prolong products in maturity as long as possible to avoid it go into decline. Again, depending on how many subscribers and monthly purchase are here, this game would already be on decline or still could be on its maturity phase.
Please do something about it. Because not doing anything is a choice as well, albeit a poor one, especially if TC is still in its cashcow/maturity phase. You will only sped up its conversion into dog / decline.
If it is indeed already in decline, there is still much to do than to let it meet a natural, boring end.
Firestream is a brand now. Some of the people plays TC because they play previous game too, because it is developed by FS. Do not sabotage your own brand.
Do end-game event and put a decent end to it, give incentives for existing TC players that have passed certain threshold to migrate to FRPG; anything to preserve the player base that you have, if not in TC, at least in games you developed.
Otherwise, a kaizen improvement here and there while you develop the other side would be great too.
To name a few:
• Chat format to be changed from dropdown menu to tabs like FRPG.
• Fix the other players location bug.
• Fix error that show misguided random location for event when Public Event appears in location that have not been unlocked by newer player.
• A reminder in the transpose tab when players haven’t transpose even once during the day (sort of READY! like FRPG)
• Report/flag function in the chat
• Revamp the bounty system
• Link IAP / non-paypal purchase
..all which is already existed in one form or another that it would require less work but still shows that the game is maintained.
Thank you for reading this far.
